PE (Polyethylene)

Polyethylene features outstanding electrical insulation and excellent chemical resistance, barely attacked by organic solvents at room temperature. It exhibits extremely low water absorption and low specific‑density (lighter than water), with wax‑like texture, non‑toxicity and good low‑temperature performance. Nevertheless, it has relatively low mechanical strength and poor heat resistance (general service temperature below 80 °C). It is combustible and prone to ageing under sunlight or thermal exposure.

Applications of different PE grades

Low‑Density Polyethylene (LDPE): Soft and transparent. Mainly for packaging films such as cling films and plastic bags, agricultural films, cable sheaths and extruded hoses.

High‑Density Polyethylene (HDPE): High rigidity and strength. Widely used for blow‑molded hollow articles including shampoo bottles and pharmaceutical containers; injection‑molded parts such as turnover boxes, waste bins and pallets; water‑supply‑drainage pipes and gas pipelines.

Linear Low‑Density Polyethylene (LLDPE): Good toughness and puncture resistance. Applied for stretch wrap films, heavy‑duty packaging bags, and serves as modifier for polymer blending.

Ultra‑High‑Molecular‑Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE): Exceptional wear resistance. Used for industrial wear‑resistant machine parts like guide rails, liner plates and gears, as well as medical devices such as artificial joints.
